Counseling.

Group Counseling

Studies have shown group counseling to be at least as, if not more, effective than individual counseling. Groups meet with me in my office once a week for 30 minutes between 6-8 weeks during regular school hours.

Teachers and parents can contact me to refer students to group or individual counseling. Examples of topics covered include recognizing and naming our feelings, how to communicate better, healthy ways to manage negative emotions, friendships, and  mindfulness to name a few!

Individual Counseling

For students needing extra support I provide short-term, solution-focused brief counseling. This generally involves meeting with a student 2-3 times monthly for about 15 minutes in length during normal school hours. For further counseling services please refer to my resources page.

Peace Corner

Many schools in Washington County School District are implementing wellness rooms as a safe space for students to go during school hours where they can self regulate when dealing with challenging emotions. Our school currently does not have a wellness room, but I have created a peace corner in my office to serve a similar purpose. Students can ask permission to visit the peace corner for 5 minutes and quietly pick a tool to help them calm down and be ready to return to class and work. Have more questions? Don’t hesitate to contact me!
